mercy fall-out.

May 10, 2007 / Thursday

We are all saved through the grace of the Lord Jesus (Acts 15:11), not because and/or out of the things that we’ve done, nor the laws we follow. An unexpected grace, a mercy fall-out, that’s what it is. He gives, saves, and loves without any condition. God made no distinction among us, he loves us no matter what we’ve been and going through.

Clearly he made no preconditions concerning the adoption of legalistic laws just to be saved, or just to be loved (Acts 15:9). There’s no need for us to follow ever strict rules that is placed before us just to please God, for Him to love us, not just because of the truth that we are already loved and saved by Him, but more so for the simple reason that we can never fully please Him. We’ll never please God with the things that we do, we will always fall short. As a matter of fact, if doing good, serving God and following the rules will be the basis for His grace and mercy for us to be saved; we’ll all end up in hell.

Grace is a gift from above and not something to be earned.

The solution is simple: we do things out of love. “As the father loves me, so I love you. Remain in my love. If you keep my commandments, you will remain in my love” (John 15:9-10) To make it more simple, God loves us and He wants us to remain in His love by loving Him back, if we want to love Him back, then, we have to keep His commandments. Thus, we still need to follow rules but it must not be out of compliance to please Him but out of love. God’s commandments and/or the laws should not be presented as something that is a strict rule that needs to be followed, but rather it is an act of love. It is only by this that God’s joy will be with us and our joy may be complete (John 15:11).

Live. laugh and loveoutloud!
