sushi.

I just had another sushi and is starting to wonder how I got so addicted with sushi. So I ended up recalling my crazy sushi moments…

From the sabong conversations with Eggay Gonda (a fellow missionary), after he got mad at some people for some reasons, we went straight to a mall and had sushi; to my first sushi in Indonesia with ate Rori Benavides (sfc caring ate),  Jing Jing Purugganan, and Norman Tarala (an indian expatriate who is in phil haha). From the unplanned sushi night with OnnelMaia Tolentino and Abi Hernandez after the long laugh trip from subic; to the planned sushi treat of Jeffri Januar that ended up with me paying (he did pay me back though haha). From the cheesy discussions with Jose Gabriel M. Apolo, Jeffri Januar and Jeffri's millionaire friend at Sushi Tei; to food trips with the Cadlaons’ around Jakarta, most of it buffets (and yeah, for free haha)..

Then it just popped up... I realized that the most memorable ones are the times with good friends... What made sushi so special is not the food per se, but the presence of people whom I got to share it with. That led me to point#1; "You don't make people special because of the things you've got, rather you make things special because of the presence of the people you got to share it with..."

As I reflected further, I realized it is very much like my relationship with God. So point#2 came in: “As sushi is made special because of the presence of special people, I am made special because of God’s presence in me”. Without these people, sushi is but ordinary food that will go down your digestive system and will come out smelly days after. Apart from God, I am but an ordinary person who stinks from inside out.

Finally, point#3, “Sushi is best when served free.” Because, and indeed, “the best things in life are free”. From every tear we’ve shed for/with the people around us, to the smile they’ve brought to us. From the silly, juicy conversations with friends, to the brain-draining advice they gave. From the love of your parents, to God’s infinite and unconditional love… It’s all free.

I wonder when my next sushi adventure will be… nah, wherever that may be, as long as it will be with special people, I know it’ll be a great one…

With this, I thank God for His grace that made me LIVE my life to the fullest. I thank God for friends i get to LAUGH with. I thank God for his unconditional LOVE. I thank God for sushi!
